November 26th
Hello world. Or my 10 or so followers. I've been pretty busy with school: essays, assignments and other projects. Luckily I only have 3 more weeks to go and then I'll be off until February!
So two weeks ago I visited Riga with my friend from school. It was nice to get away even though it was just to Latvia (which is Estonia's neighbour, I hope you knew that). On my way into the city I was trying to pronounce every single Latvian word I could see from the bus window. My friend got a little annoyed but it was a lot of fun for me! Also, the language is not that difficult since it's a mixture of Estonian words with the letter S at the end of all of them and Russian. Since I kind of understand both I wasn't completely lost (but that doesn't mean I can speak Latvian or anything).
The highlight of my trip was probably going to a hockey game. Latvia was playing Russia and it was intense! I really liked it though. Surprised myself by how into the game I got. I was yelling "Sarauj Latvija!" (Go Latvia!) constantly and Latvia ended up winning. Also, their coach is Canadian so made me feel a connection to my favourite country.
We also went to see the old town of Riga but it didn't leave a deep impression on me just because Tallinn's old town is centuries older and makes it more special I guess. It was still beautiful though. And of course cities that have a river running through them just look amazing. I loved all the bridges and the water especially during the night.

Sadly, this Friday a huge tragedy occurred in Riga. The roof of a huge supermarket collapsed killing 54 people. On Sunday all flags in Estonia were raised in honour of the victims. My thoughts go out to all the people affected, especially my friend Tonijs' family.
After that I've been focusing on school. For example for today I had to write a 5-page essay about a political issue in the world. I chose the subject of the decline of democracy in Ecuador. I posted it here if you're interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzm7lF2-v_ZVNy1EdWxZTDhEN1k/edit?usp=sharing
I have also successfully finished my economics course! So happy I did it. It was probably the most difficult class for me this semester but I'm proud to have done it.
Today is also my dog Riki's birthday! He turned 14. We'll have a few family friends over on Saturday as it has become a yearly event. We used to have huge parties but now it's more just an excuse for me to cook and my mom's friends to chat for hours.
Ps. Christmas is coming soon so you can expect lots of beautiful pictures of Tallinn in Christmas decorations!
