September 2nd
The hiatus is over! I've been so busy but now that I have a cold and I'm sitting at home, I can finally give an update on my life.
Two weeks ago was the big Night Song Festival. It is almost impossible to describe the event. It was just 20,000 Estonians singing together until 2 in the morning. The festival had great shows but the point is not only to enjoy the performances but be a part of it. It was an amazing feeling seeing everyone sing at the top of their lungs and wave Estonian flags. It's something that I've never experienced anywhere else in the world. It is also important to us because for a very long time in the past our nation was not allowed to sing these songs so this event is something extremely sacred to us.
This week's motto: “Happiness is not the absence of problems; it's the ability to deal with them.”

Night Song Festival in Tartu |
At the end of that week I went to the zoo. I loved it! I got to see a huge tiger, heard a lion roar (pretty scary, not going to lie), saw a huge polar bear cry for his girlfriend (so cute/sad) and of course I went to see the raccoons. In Canada they just run around free but here we probably have only 2 in the whole country and they live at zoo. But they were adorable, sleeping in the corner, cuddling. Lastly we went to see a Snowy Owl called Joosep (Joseph in English) that my high school's student council (that I used to be a member of) sponsors. It was a great day!
Last Monday was an orientation day at my university. I met new people from my program and they all seemed so nice (I haven't met all of them yet)! We had various tasks to complete and we had so much fun doing it! We had to sing, dance, pose for pictures, come up with a short movie script and act it out etc.
After that crazy day we attended a welcome to university party. I saw many old friends and met new ones as well. Good times.
On Friday we had the opening ceremony at school. I learned the school song and everything. So proud.
Since I've been sick the whole weekend I've had time to work on my study plan for school and I submitted it today! First class tomorrow morning! Let the nerd times begin!
